Telegram, Company’s founder and CEO: Pavel Durov, confirmed that Telegram Premium is a subscription plan that allows anyone to acquire additional features.

Durov says that “all existing features will remain free, and there will be plenty of new free features coming,” implying that existing Telegram users will not be forced to upgrade to a premium subscription for the features they’re experiencing now. Additionally, users who do not subscribe to Telegram Premium will also be able to take advantage of some of its features, such as viewing extra-large documents, media, and stickers sent by Premium users, or tapping to add Premium reactions already pinned to a message to react in the same way.
